Air Ops
Formed in 2010, the Air Operations Program is a public/private partnership between the Upland Fire Department and Reach Air Medical Services. “Helicopter 165”, a Eurocopter EC135, is staffed 24/7 with a Pilot, Flight Nurse, and Flight Paramedic, and is utilized to provide rapid transport of critically injured and ill patients to the appropriate medical facility. The helicopter functions as a “flying intensive care unit” with equipment similar to equipment utilized in a hospital emergency room.
Typical missions include:
- “Scene Calls” for victims of trauma related incidents such as traffic accidents, falls, assaults, etc.
- Interfacility Transports of critically ill patients.
- Aerial command platform for Upland/Montclair Fire Dept. Command Staff.
The UFD Air Operations Program is overseen by the Fire Operations Division.
