Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy is designed to provide citizens with an understanding of the police department’s operations.  Students will gain an overall knowledge of the Upland Police Department, how the department is organized, how it serves the community, and the officers who respond when citizens call. The course instructors will include police department personnel who are experts in the areas of narcotics, investigations, patrol operations, traffic-related operations, criminal law, crime scene investigation, and other related fields.

Students will have an opportunity to meet some of the command staff, detectives, patrol officers, K-9 officers, dispatchers, and support staff.  Students will be encouraged to ask questions and express their concerns regarding pertinent law enforcement issues.

Through this program, we hope to increase the public’s understanding of how their local law enforcement agency operates and build a stronger partnership for the future of the community.
