Homeland Security

Terrorism and Emergency Preparedness Workshops

Fear is a major tactic used by terrorists to achieve political and social objectives. You can fight back by taking many of the actions you would to prepare for earthquakes, fires and other emergencies. The more you know about terrorism, the better you can respond and discern the difference between what may be actual terrorist activity or just propagated media myths.

Until recently, many Americans believed that terrorism only affected other countries. Now we know that it can happen here. Funding from the Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Homeland Security Program has enabled the Police Department to provide presentations to the community on understanding terrorism, developing an emergency plan, updating emergency supplies, what to do in the event of a bomb threat and other information to help you be better prepared.

While many may believe terrorist attacks would not affect the City of Upland, as Upland residents we encourage you to learn more about emergency survival which will help you should you encounter any emergency while at home, at work, on the road, or on vacation.

If you would like to schedule a workshop for your group, please contact Sargeant Marcelo Blanco at (909) 946-7624.
