CERT Team
About CERT
Upland CERT is a team of specifically trained First Responder volunteers dedicated to responding to natural disasters, search and rescue, and emergencies in our community and neighboring area.
· Our primary geographical area of responsibility is the City of Upland but we are ready to assist neighboring cities such as San Antonio Heights, Claremont, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario.
· UCERT trains Upland residents in how to assist their families, neighborhoods, and city during and after any minor to major disaster.
· We assist in mass casualties, light search and rescue, damage evaluation of structures, may assist in the evacuation of residents, assist in manning a neighborhood shelter, putting out small fires, turning off gas, assisting in security around crashes, downed power lines and down trees during the winds, 4th July Fire Works, Lemon Festival in our local area.
· UCERT members volunteer over 5,000 hours each year for training, mission, and public education.
With the assistance of two San Bernardino County districts, Upland CERT was able to construct a CERT trailer which is used for training and can be towed to disaster sites to serve as our Operations and Logistics center. The trailer is equipped with emergency medical and rescue supplies.
Upland CERT is a non-funded program and has raised its operational funds through the hard work of members. Grants from Upland Rotary and Southern California Edison have assisted in helping to fulfill our mission. Upland CERT is part of the Upland Community Foundation which provides our 501-c-3 status as a not-for-profit organization and provides our banking services.
